ABSTRACT

The study assessed the impact of social media on undergraduate information seeking behaviour in University of Benin. Four (4) research questions were raised for the study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to to determine the types of social media of undergraduate student information seeking, to examine the impact of social media on information seeking behaviour of undergraduate student , to know the determine the extent to which undergraduate student use social media as source of information seeking, to determine the challenges facing undergraduate students use of social media to meet their information seeking behavior. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study consisted of all undergraduates of the University of benin. 230 undergraduate students formed the sample population for the study which was randomly selected to represent the total population of the study. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire; it was built around the research question by the researcher and validated by the researcher’s supervisor. 230 copies of the questionnaire were printed and distributed to the sample population and was retrieved on the spot after filling to ensure 100% retrieval. Data collected will be statistically analyzed by the use of simple percentage. This work will help to know the impact of social media on undergraduate information seeking behaviour in university of benin.
