ABSTRACT
This study investigated the impact of ICT skill and development on JSS Students. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. The population of the study comprises of fifty one (51) students of different Secondary Schools which are Edo Boys Junior College, Oredo Girls’ Junior Secondary School, Lucia Secondary School, Edokpolor Grammar School and Idia College Grammar School of random student which were selected for the study. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection.
The questionnaire was validated by the researcher’s supervisor while the split half method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument which yielded a coefficient index of 0.69. Data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation. T he study found that lack of training and software problem are responsible for lack of skill development in ICT.
The study further identified the benefit of ICT skill and development on student performance. Based on the finding of the study, the following recommendation was made for the study; the study recommend that government should provide the necessary learning equipment and resource so as to create an enabling environment and improve communication between teachers and students and also government should address the issue of software so as to improve the skill relationship between the student and teacher and make internet stable and reliable and also affordable for all.
