ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to investigate the impact of school facilities on students’ academic performance in Edo State. Due to high rate of failure observed it is set out to specifically ascertain, any relationship between school facilities and academic performance of students; to determine if there is any significant difference in school facilities in public and private secondary schools; to establish if there is any relationship between school facilities and academic performance of students in private, and to establish if there is any relationship between school facilities and academic performance of students in public secondary schools students in Edo State.
Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The study employed the survey research design method of data collection. Using a well-structured questionnaire titled: ASSESSMENT OF SCHOOL FACILITIES, it was administered to various principals of sampled senior secondary schools in Edo State. A sample size of 82 Senior Secondary schools was selected from the schools in Edo State for the study. Fifty one (51) schools each were selected in private schools; while thirty one (31) schools were selected amongst the public schools. The face and content validity was carried out by two experts in the Department of Educational Studies and Management, Faculty of Education, University of Benin. The reliability coefficients of 0.72 were obtained using Split half Method. The data was analyze
