ABSTRACT
This study examine the impact of orphanage homes on child personality development in Edo State. The study revealed among other things, that conditions of orphans in Edo State are deplorable as they are exposed to neglect, violence, exploitation and all forms of abuse.
It adopted the survey research design while the populations of the study were orphans children in Oredo LGA, Edo State. The sample size of the study was 100 and it adopted the simple random sampling method. The study utilized both quantitative and qualitative approach in data collection.
The findings shows that the conditions are deplorable and therefore the children are exposed to neglect, violence, exploitation and all forms of abuse and its also recommended that Government, NGOs and social workers to raise awareness of orphan and vulnerable children at all levels through advocacy and social mobilization. Both civil society and media attention to spread informed messages about orphans and vulnerable children.
