ABSTRACT
An analysis of the effects of Nollywood movies on the students performance in tertiary institution in Nigeria used University of Benin as a reference point. To do this study the survey research method to elicit the desired information from the sample produced. The researcher used 100 people as the population size of the study and sample size was determines using the Yaro Yamane formula. The study used the open ended and close ended form of questionnaire for data collection open ended question gave the researcher an opportunity to supply their own response, options while close ended was used to restrict some responses options. Also, the researcher used simple percentage and table, to analyze the collected data. In drawing the conclusion, the fact remains that watching home movies has been variously criticized for negative impact on academic achievement. Therefore, the need to effectively and adequately balance the watching of home video with reading ability of students will go a long way to model and change their behavioural characteristics towards academics and thereby providing a better environment for an enhanced academic performance.
