ABSTRACT
Marital instability has impacted the development as well as the social functioning of a number of children in Nigeria. the impacts of marital disputes on children and the social work intervention in Egor Local Government area of Edo state was explored. Specific objectives of the study included; To identify the various causes of marital disputes in Egor Local Government Area, to examine the various impacts of marital disputes on children in Egor Local Government Area, to determine the social work intervention in Egor Local Government Area.. The study adopted the descriptive survey design, and sampling techniques were purposive and simple random in selecting a sample of 335 participants. Questionnaires were used to collect data. Quantitative data were analyzed and qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings revealed problems facing pupils from marital conflicts families like insufficiency of school needs, lack of love from both parents, and absenteeism, which affected their academic performance. It was further reported that children from marital conflict families were performing poor in their studies compared to those with good parenting. It is recommended that crucial consideration is needed by helping professional, such as social workers, teachers, guidance counselors, family counselors and child protection networks to promote the general functioning of students of children from disputed homes.
