ABSTRACT
The study investigated The impact of instructional materials in teaching and learning of Economics in senior secondary in Ovia North Local Government of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, Three (3) research questions were raised and examined. for the study will be made up of 100 respondents, of which 10 are permanent economics teachers and 90 students of SS2 of which Simple random sampling was used to select only permanent teachers from each school, whereas, students were selected base on the population of SS2 class of the selected 10 public senior secondary school in Ovia North Local Government of Edo State. The instrument that was used for the data collection was a structured questionnaire titled "The Impact of Instructional Materials in Teaching and Learning of Economics Questionnaire" (IIMTLEQ). The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using frequency count and simple percentage.
The findings from the study include that there is significant impact in the use of instructional materials for the teaching and application of Economics in senior secondary schools public senior secondary school in Ovia North Local Government of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant difference in the academic performance of senior secondary school students in Economics due to the use of instructional material in senior secondary schools public senior secondary school in Ovia North Local Government of Edo State. The study recommended among others that the government should Encourage educators to further integrate diverse instructional materials into their teaching methodologies. This could include multimedia resources, hands-on activities, simulations, and real-world examples to cater to different learning styles and enhance comprehension.
