ABSTRACT

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has grown ubiquitous in several domains of human existence. The utilisation of ICT in Education facilitates the establishment of pupils-centered learning environments. In light of the global shift towards digital media and information, the significance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the field of Education is increasingly recognised. This significance is expected to further expand and evolve in the realm of teaching and learning. Consequently, we have opted to conduct a research study on the impact of ICT on the productivity of the Edo BEST programme in public primary schools within Edo state. The objective of this study is to assess the influence of information communication technology (ICT) on the efficiency of the Edo best programme in public primary schools in Edo state. Additionally, it aims to evaluate the effect of ICT on the ratio of teachers' input to output in public primary schools in Edo state. To assess the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through Edo BEST in addressing inefficiencies in public elementary schools in Edo state, In order to assess the learning capacity of pupils within the Edo BEST programme, it is necessary to identify potential solutions to the ICT issues that hinder their effective performance. Additionally, it is important to provide recommendations that can enhance the utilisation of ICT in teaching and learning. The initial hypothesis, H1, which posited a correlation between information and communication technology (ICT) and the productivity of the Edo Best project in elementary schools within Edo state, was ultimately accepted upon the conclusion of the research. The second hypothesis, which was formulated, was ultimately rejected at the conclusion of the study. Hypothesis 1: There is no statistically significant association between ICT and productivity in the Edo best initiative implemented in primary schools in Edo state.

The research study have demonstrated that ICT significantly affects the academic performance of public primary school kids in Edo state. It has positively benefited teachers' efficiency and effectiveness in teaching and learning, as well as the academic performance of the pupils. Hence, the Government should explore the feasibility of integrating ICT as a universal practice in public elementary schools. This can be achieved by equipping them with sufficient ICT infrastructure, skilled IT professionals, and technicians to ensure the efficient functioning and upkeep of these educational institutions.
