The Impact Of Feminism On Our Contemporary Society

ABSTRACT

This study examines the impact of Feminism on our Contemporary Society. The objectives of this study were to examine how Feminism has harmed or helped women in the society; to ascertain how the evolution of Feminism has affected society; to investigate why certain religious groups find feminism as a threat; to investigate if feminism is a threat to existing family values as well as to determine the future of feminism in our present day society. To achieve the objectives of the study, one hundred (100) questionnaires were administered by the researcher, of which ninety-seven (97) were returned successfully and were used for the data analysis and presentation.

The data gathered for the purpose of this study were analyzed using frequency count and percentage. In line with the findings, it is recommended that there is need for more awareness on the positive impact of feminism on women. However, Feminists should be less dominant in driving home their point in order not to be misinterpreted as alpha females, there is also need for the awareness on the positive impact of feminism on the society and how it has curbed domestic violence, rape etc, the government should make policies that would check some religious institutions that tend to limit the abilities of women, In the process of advocating for feminism, already existing values especially that of the family should be well protected by these women as it helps keep members of the society in check and the government should make policies that will involve women in all aspects of the society such as politics, decision making processes, empowering them and seeing them not as inferiors but as individuals who can contribute to the proper functioning of the society as a whole.
