ABSTRACT
Knowledge and attitude about sex is so vital that people seek it from whatever sources that are available, good or bad. When accurate information is not available, people will ignorantly accept misinformation for truth. This is especially noticeable among youth. The failure of adult to discuss sex related issues openly with young people have several unfortunate consequences. Adolescent stage is a wonderful period in one‟s life and time filled with new and exciting things and inventions. It marks a period of significant physical, emotional and social change making it a critical time for the development of healthy sexual behavior of students through the provision of sex education and the quality of family life. Family style of educating their children may to a great extent influence the sexuality of their children. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. The analysis of the data was done using correlational survey research design. The population comprised of the seventeen public senior secondary school students in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State.The sample size was 100 students randomly selected from ten public senior secondary schools, to ensure the content and face validity of the instrument, the draft copy of the questionnaire which was designed in two parts Section A and Section B was given to the project supervisor and two expert in the department of Curriculum And Instructional Technology( CIT) for proper modification. The data was administered and collected by the researcher and descriptive, inferential statistics cross tabulation and chi square test were used to analyze and interpret the data collected. Based on the findings of the study, there exist relationship between family life education and sexual behaviour of senior secondary school students,that students has knowledge of sex education from varying sources that has helped them make effective decision about their sexual behaviour and also make them understand the consequences of engaging in risky sexual behaviours. The study therefore concluded that there is a relationship between family life, comprehensive sex education and sexual behaviour of senior secondary school students, however involving parents, religious leaders, influential figures in sex education programs will go a long way in helping students make positive decision about sexual behaviour. Based on the findings, the following recommendation were made which includes strengthening family life education, effective Media usage and focus on parental involvement in sex education program.
