ABSTRACT

This project examines “the Impact of Employee Appraisal on Performance (A Case Study of Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Benin City)”. The objectives of this study are to examine the relationship between performance appraisal and employee performance in NIFOR, ascertain if performance appraisal enhances employee’s competence in NIFOR and also to find out if performance appraisal enhances employee’s performance in NIFOR. The data for this study was obtained with questionnaire and analyzed with chi-square statistics. From the findings, it was discovered that there is a significant relationship between performance appraisal and employees’ actual performance in NIFOR and there is also a significant relationship between performance appraisal and employee competence. It is recommended that we examine the relationship between performance appraisal and employee performance in NIFOR, ascertain if performance appraisal enhances employee’s competence in NIFOR and also find out if performance appraisal enhances employee’s performance in NIFOR.
