ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of early nutritional interventions on pre-schoolers in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. The aim was to find out the impact of early nutritional interventions on pre-schoolers. To achieve this aims, four research questions were raised. Descriptive research survey was adopted for this study
The population of this study consisted of all pre- primary school teachers in Oredo local Government Area including private and public schools. A sample size of 100 was used. The Instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage.
From the study, the findings revealed that early nutritional intervention does not positively impact cognitive skills development in pre-schoolers, but it enhances language development. While it does not notably contribute to physical growth, it's vital for managing physical development. Socio-economic status doesn't affect affordability, but it influences access to high-quality options. Also cultural factors don't impact adoption significantly but shape food preferences and suitable nutritional choices for pre-school aged children. It was therefore recommended amongst others that policymakers and stakeholders should implement measures to enhance access to quality interventions for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including cost subsidies, educational initiatives, and integration into early education curricula.
