ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to investigate the impact of early intervention on the development of children with disabilities in Oredo Local Government Area Benin City. Four research question were formulated to guide the study. Descriptive Survey research design was adopted for this study. The study population consists of students in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. A total number of 100 students were randomly selected from 10 public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State for the study. The researcher used structured questionnaire as the instrument for the data collection. The data collected were presented in Tables and analyzed using simple percentage and descriptive statistics comprising of mean. The findings from analyzed data showsthat The impact of early intervention on the development of children with disabilities in Oredo Local Government Area Benin City is high. This is due to the fact that; early intervention helps brain development of children with disabilities, it enable them to cope with difficulties, makes their experience as children to be rich and fulfilling and prepares children with disabilities for full and meaningful participation in adulthood. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made which include: parents, guardians and all stakeholders should be more involved in early intervention program for their children with disabilities in order to accelerate their rates of development.
