THE IMPACT OF E-GOVERNANCE ON PUBLIC SECTOR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of e-Governance on public sector financial management and accountability in Edo State. The study adopted the descriptive survey design and three hundred and fifty-six copies of the questionnaire were administered to staff in the office of the accountant-general, ICTA and internal revenue service in Edo State. e- Governance tool employed such as Oracle Hyperion, Oracle Financials, e-memo manager and ERAS was used to proxy e-governance in Edo state civil and public service. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to summarize and draw inference on the population. The Pearson Chi-square statistics was used to test the hypotheses of the study. The result of the inferential statistics revealed that Oracle Hyperion, Oracle Financials, e-memo manager and ERAS have positive and significant impact on public sector financial management and accountability in Edo State. The study further recommended that some areas in MDA should be worked on with the help of emerging technologies to become a paperless in operation.
