SUMMARY
Considering all that had been discussed, the review of related literature and research findings obtained in this study, it has been established beyond every reasonable doubt that domestic violence has serious impact on the academic performance of students which has an implication to counseling and there are different forms of it, these include beating, false accusations, fighting, shouting at the students, torturing the students emotionally, which can either be denying the students basic needs etc. which can be very detrimental to the wellbeing of any student. It has also been discovered that domestic violence can also cause various degrees of harm to the student or individual who is at the receiving end of the act. Domestic violence if not well tackled can have different effects on the student some of these effects can be psychological, emotional, economical, medical and social effect etc. The Counselors and other relevant bodies must be involved in the discouragement of acts that bring about domestic violence and also encourage seriously the punishment of perpetrators of domestic violence.
