ABSTRACT

The study evaluated the impact of Covid-19 on academic calendar; a case study of University of Benin. Three research questions were raised and answered to influence the direction of the investigation. The study utilized a descriptive survey research approach to investigate the impact of Covid-19 on academic schedule; a case study of University of Benin. The instrument for data collection for the study was questionnaire. The key findings of the study were as follows: Covid-19 pandemic impacted poorly on the academic programmes in University of Benin; the methods to be adopted to restrict the influence of Covid-19 on academic programmes included: Sanitary buckets and sanitizers were provided at appropriate locations, Students and teachers were compelled to check temperature at the entrance before entering the school, and Students were made to sit far away from each other in lecture halls (social distancing). Based on the findings of the study and the conclusion, the following recommendations were made: University heads and administrators should endeavor to create schemes or systems to bridge the gap or cushion the effect of the covid-19 pandemic on the academic calendar of the institution amongst others.
