THE IMPACT OF COMMUNITY POLICING AS A CRIME REDUCTION STRATEGY

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate Impact of Community Policing as a Crime Reduction Strategy in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. A descriptive survey research design was employed in this study. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The target population of the study consist of the twelve (12) communities in Oredo local government area, with sample of two hundred (100) residents as respondents using the simple random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Adult and Non Formal Education; while the test- re test reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.
