ABSTRACT

The study looked at accessing the main aim of this study is to examine the impact of community health programmes on adolescent well-being in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria. The objective of this study was to access the main aim of this study is to examine the impact of community health programmes on adolescent well-being in Benin City, Edo state. The research questions asked to achieve the objective of the study were as follows; What types of community health programs are currently offered for adolescents in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, and what services do these programs provide, To what extent do existing community health programs in Benin City improve adolescent well-being in terms of physical health, mental health, sexual and reproductive health knowledge and behaviors, educational attainment, and social connectedness, Are there disparities in access to community health programs in Benin City based on factors such as socioeconomic status, gender, and geographic location, and Based on the effectiveness and reach of existing community health programs, what evidence-based recommendations can be made for optimizing program design, resource allocation, and promoting best practices to improve adolescent well-being in Benin City and other LMIC settings.The sample size was 301 participants chosen from the study population using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling, the research instrument utilized was the questionnaire. Conclusion drawn from the analysis of the data retrieved from the questionnaire indicates that the insights garnered from this research hold significant implications for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars alike. The resounding support expressed by respondents for Benin City's community health programs as a potential model for other low- and middle-income countries signals a growing recognition of the importance of contextspecific approaches and community engagement in addressing complex health challenges.Recommendations were made based on the findings and one of the recommendations:Establish and nurture platforms for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and South-South cooperation between Benin City and other low- and middle-income countries. This could entail the creation of formal networks, consortia, or virtual communities of practice where stakeholders can exchange best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions. Additionally, initiatives such as joint research projects, study tours, and twinning arrangements can facilitate meaningful collaboration and mutual learning among diverse stakeholders.
