SUMMARY
The first chapter briefly introduces the concept of social emotional development and co-curricular activities and why they are important to young children. The purpose of this research is to find out what impact co-curricular activities has on the social emotional development of young school children in Oredo local government area, Benin City, Edo state. In this regard, five research questions were raised to address this study. These questions address the status of co-curricular activities in schools, the level of children’s participation in co-curricular activities, the status of social emotional developbbment in children, the difference between social emotional development in children who participate in co-curricular activities and those who do not and finally the impact of co-curricular activities in the social emotional development in children. Descriptive survey research design was used to carry out this research study.
