Abstract
This study examined the impact of child maltreatment on the mental health of children and its implication for Social Work Intervention. In conducting the study, a random sampling technique was used. 100 respondents were used for the study. Survey research design was used for this study. The study adopted both primary and secondary method of data collection. Data were analyzed using simple percentage frequency distribution table. The findings revealed that there is a negative relationship between child maltreatment and child mental health, it was also revealed that, Physical abuse, sexual abuse, Emotional (psychological abuse), and neglect are the nature of child maltreatment in the study area. The study recommends that Social workers and councilors should advice parents/guidance to avoid acts that will result in child abuse and neglects irrespective of their income status.
