ABSTRACT
The study examined the impact of Adult Education Programme On Women Empowerment in Egor Local Government Area. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher formulated five (5) research questions that guided the study. The population of the study consists of 126 members of Adult Literacy centers in Egor Local Government area. The sample size of the study was 126 which is 100 percent of the total population. The study made use of purposive sampling technique. A well -structured questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by an expert in the department of Adult and non-formal education. The reliability of the instrument was achieved using test-retest method while Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to obtain a reliability test of 0.75. The data gathered were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Based on the data analysis, the findings of the study revealed the types of adult education available for women, The Economic, Social and Political impact of adult education programmes on women empowerment in Egor local Government area. However, the researcher recommends that: Programmes for women empowerment should not only be made free but compulsory, establishment of mechanisms to accelerate women’s equal participation in politics, Government should take actions to eliminate attitudes and practices that discriminate against subordinate women, Skills acquisition centers for women, to enhance women political participation in the labour market, The media, community, religious leaders should be employed to give the women orientation about politics.
