ABSTRACT
This study determines the impact of adult basic Education on community development in Egor Local Government area of Edo State . Five research questions were raised to guife this study. The study employed a casual comparative design . The population of the study constitutes all the people of egor local government area Edo state.
The study adopted the sample selected using multi stage sampling technique to select a sample of 120 people in four different communities of egor local government Okhoro , use, uwelu ,iguikpe Benin city Edo state . The instrument used for data collection was a sellf structured questionnaire titled : Impact of adult basic Education on community development ( IABECD). It was however subjected to face validity by the researcher' s supervisor and one other expect in the Department of adult and non formal education , faculty of education , University of Benin .The reliability was determined using the test re test method.The instrument was administered to facilitators and ,the adult learner's who are participating in adult basic Education in Egor local government area Benin city .
The result of the findings reveals that adult basic Education has a positive effect on community development and the people of egor local government area. Therefor it is recommended that the government should try as much to increase the funding of adult education in rural areas,the government should also organise workshops to communities on the importance of acquiring Education even at old age.
