SUMMARY
Accounting information system software is a formal instrument for collecting, organizing and communicating accounting information about an organization’s activities. It is a financial information system which includes accounting terms, records instruction manuals flow charts programs, and reports to fit the particular needs of the business. This research examined the Impact of accounting information system on students’ account management in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. However, the respondents agree that accounting information system is used by the management for collecting various fees like registration fees, school fees, admission and acceptance fees, among others from the students which brought about easy and accurate data of student that has paid with the student that has not paid, and amount to balance up. The findings also revealed that the use of accounting information system has brought about continuous flow of information which aid decision making of the management, helps the management in the control of financial transaction of the institution, and helps to prevent fraudulence practices. In spite of the tremendous benefit of it, there are some challenges confronting the use of accounting information system as agreed by the respondents, among which are inadequate facilities to support easy and fast record keeping, poor network services, inadequate finance of tertiary institutions, among others. It was 52 generally believed by the respondents that provision of adequate facilities that support full adoption of accounting information system, availability of strong and affordable internet facilities, adequate finance of tertiary institutions to create centres that afford students easy access to internet facilities, training and retraining of staff and students on the use of information and communication technology, among others this would provide solution to the challenges confronting the full adoption of accounting information system in Ekitit State University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.
