ABSTRACT

This research study focused on state failure and illegal youth migration in Nigeria with focus on Edo state. The need for this research study was as a result of the increasing rate of illegal migration as embarked upon by the youths of edo state in particular and in Nigeria in general. The negligence of the state in the discharge of their constitutional duties has given room for the daily increase of illegal migration. The consequence has thus led to the loss of lives in the course of migrating in strange places while undergoing inhuman treatments and manhandling. The research work utilized the social survey method; the instrument deployed for this research work was the administration of questionnaire, while data collected was analyzed with the use of simple percentage. It was discovered that the failing nature of the state has prompted the populace (youths) to seek for greener pastures outside the country not minding the risks involved. In bringing this menace to an end, it is recommended that the government should stand up to their responsibilities and help strengthen the economy for the good of all.
