ABSTRACT
The current state of History in Ovia North East Local Government Area is shredded on the fact that there are a lot of factors militating against its teaching and learning which unfortunately have been left unaddressed hence pointing to the fact that all is not well with the effective teaching and learning of the subject among junior secondary school level. Much of these problem emanated from government hence affect the direct work of the teacher in the classroom. Furthermore, History teachers over the years are often accused of using traditional method and approaches in teaching and assessing students. The study has also reiterated the fact that some underlying administrative challenges operating in the background which often led to the problems History teachers contend with in the classroom.
