ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to examine the Factors influencing the teaching and learning of Religions in Ovia North East local government area of Edo state. Five research questions was raised for this study: What are the factors that influence the teaching and learning of religion in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State?, How does societal norms and curriculum beliefs influence the teaching and learning of religion Ovia North East local government area of Edo state?, What is the impact of parental involvement in religious studies on the academic performance of students in learning?, What are the challenges faced by teachers and students in the teaching and learning of religion in a multi-religious environment like Ovia North East?, What are the strategies that can be implemented to promote religion in Ovia North East local government area of Edo state? The research design that was used is the research survey technique and the data collected was analysed using a simple percentage and frequency table. The major findings of this research, revealed that the influence of teaching Religion in Ovia North East Local Government Area is multifaceted and dynamic. From cultural inclusiveness and diversity to teachers training, student’s prior knowledge on religion and so many others. Recognising and address these factors are essential for quality and effective teaching of Religion education.
