ABSTRACT
The industrialization of the deep sea is expanding worldwide. Increasing oil and gas exploration activities in the absence of sufficient baseline data in deep-sea ecosystems has made environmental management challenging. The engineering work that had been carried out for this project became important for deep sea drillingas exploration into the deep sea moves away from scientific towards industrial organizations, the need to perform consistent high quality surveys in these extreme environments is becoming more and more important. This work focuses on key note issues to be considered in extracting hydrocarbon from the deep sea unfriendly environment. It also presents a study on the influence of platform displacements on the riser behavior and the dynamics of a semi-submersible platform coupled with a drilling riser in ultra-deep water is featured. In addition, the Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) that is responsible to keep the platform stationary is also included in the numerical model. Drilling riser suffers fatigue damage as a result of its vibration under environmental loads. This paper established nonlinear dynamic analysis method of drilling riser.
