ABSTRACT
The objective of this research was to ascertain the impact of the cost of building materials on the growth of housing in Benin City, Nigeria citing Egor local government area as a case study. Three (3) different research objectives were examined. The cost of building materials in Benin City is currently a problem that this study looks at. Primary and secondary sources, along with questionnaires distributed to various specialists, were used to acquire statistics for the study. The baseline for the data analysis was the sample size for the distributed questionnaires, 45 of which were retrieved.
Based on the findings, the challenges and factors that increase the cost of construction materials in the research area can be minimized and managed, enabling the construction of more buildings in Edo state. Therefore, it was advised that government housing regulation and delivery focus on encouraging people to buy or build their own homes as well as building homes for rental purposes. On top of that, it was recommended that the government fund local building materials research and development by designating money for it in the fiscal budget.
Applying the conclusions is necessary.
