ABSTRACT
The study is aimed at assessing the effects of Boko Haram Insurgency on Western education on Nigeria student in North-Eastern Nigeria. Three objectives were formulated as study guide in explaining the causes of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria and also identify areas where Boko Haram has affected in Northeastern Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive research design and a structured interview and questionnaire were the instruments used for data collection. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the demography presented in tables. The findings of the study revealed that poverty, unemployment, Almajiris factor and misconception of religion were the major factors that led to the development of Boko Haram to its full insurgence organization. The study also revealed that Boko Haram has attacked schools resulting in the indiscriminate destruction of schools infrastructure, loss of teachers, killing and kidnapping and recruiting young children. The study recommended the federal government and counter insurgency efforts of all security outfits investigate the root causes and dynamics of Boko Haram and a well-structured poverty alleviation program devoid of political patronage in Yobe State of Nigeria’s north east.
