ABSTRACT
Advertising is directed to the consumers or target audiences through various media in order to present and promote a product, services and idea. Good advertising requires competent personnel including a number of specialists to enable it thrive in the ever dynamic and competitive business environment. In our efforts to highlight the effect on the sales volume of the company’s products a survey study was carried out. Questionnaires were administered on students of the university of Benin to determine the effect of advertising on the sales volume of the company's product . The data obtained were presented using tables and the analysis was done using correlative and descriptive analysis. In view of this the researcher recommended that due to the competitive nature of the industry the marketing manager must develop and formulate marketing programmes that will satisfy the needs of the consumers. Regular and consistent up-to-date training on product information should be given to the advertising agency so that they will have the current knowledge and skills to handle the adverts and also to ensure that product information is being emphasized so as to enlighten the customers.
