ABSTRACT

This study examined how tax policy affects socioeconomic and national development. The study investigated how a good tax policy affects Edo State's economy and development, assessed its impact, identified tax policy development and implementation challenges, and assessed tax policy understanding in Edo State. Four research questions were answered to meet the study's goal. The study was survey-based. The researcher collects data from Edo State residents in Oredo (374,515), Ikpoba-Okha (372,080), and Egor (340,287) local governments. The three studied local governments had 1,086,882 residents. This study includes 600 respondents from three municipal governments. The questionnaire was given to 600 people, and 587 responded. Simple percentage analysis was used to assess the data. Taxation on income, products, and services is a government need and a means of raising revenue, according to the study. The report suggests that government officials be accountable and open in managing tax money so Nigerians can benefit from tax payments.
