ABSTRACT.
The study investigates the effect of study habit on the academic achievement of secondary school students in Egor Local Government area of Edo State. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. A total of Five Thousand, Five hundred and Seventy Four (5574) students and a subset of five hundred and ifty seven (557) where selected for the study within the target area using a simple random sampling technique. The major instrument used for the study was a selfconstructed questionnaire.The instrument was validated by the supervisor and two other lecturers from the department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education University of Benin. Data were analyzed using simple percentages and frequency count. Findings revealed that regular library patronage affects students’ academic performance. It was also revealed that regular engagement in note taking affects the students’ academic performance. It was therefore recommended that the school counselor should encourage students to patronize the library on a regular basis. It was further recommended that students should be encouraged and motivated to take down notes during lessons so they can easily access them in order to improve their academic performance and progress
