ABSTRACT
The study was designed to determine the effect of hard drugs in the academic performance of university students: and it's implications for social work practice, using the university of Benin as the case study. Survey research design work was used to collect data without imposing any condition or treatment on them. Simple random sampling procedure was used to select the sample and the students for the study(simple size of 150 students). Questionnaires will be used as the instrument of data collection; questions were drawn from the research questions. The data collected will be analyzed using the simple percentages presented In the frequency distribution tables. Recommendation was made based on the findings. Such as: Campaigns against substance use should be incorporated in health education curricular of colleges of education with special focus on the adverse consequences of the substances used. Government should prevent the cultivation/sales of Indian helm and other deadly herbs that encourage drug abuse.
