Abstract:

This research work examined theeffect of fuel subsidy removal  on workers job performance; a study of selected primary schools in Benin city, Edo state Nigeria. The study made use of questionnaire to obtain data from respondent.. Objectives were raised for the study. The study found thatmajority of the sampled respondents do have understanding of what the deregulation of downstream petroleum sector is all about, yet again it was also observed that pricing policy is an important factor in the deregulation of downstream petroleum sector, it was also noticed that the rehabilitation of the refineries will go a long in determining the success of the policy. The study concluded that It is also important to maintain and improve on the present level of performance in the oil industry. Therefore, since subsidy is a temporary measure, if at all. The government wants to remove subsidy, it is not to the best no matter the golden objective which they have in mind and thus recommended that the government Abolish fees for the first 12 years of education in all government schools and pay up school certificate examination fees for first-time candidates of these schools. This will relieve a significant financial burden for poor families. The measure can be a concurrent federal and state government responsibility in which each tier can take care of its own students.
