ABSTRACT

This study examined the Effect of Accounting Practices on Performance of Quoted Companies in Nigeria. The population of the study consistof staffs in Seven Up Bottling Company, the simple random sampling technique was used to select 370 staffs using the Taro Yamane Sample size calculator. A structured questionnaire was used to retrieve data from the respondents, the number of questionnaire retrieved was 370, therefore the analyses was done based on the total number of returned questionnaire.The findings of the study indicated that :

There is a significant relationship between revenue recognition practices and the performance of quoted companies in Nigeria. Revenue recognition, being a critical component of financial reporting, directly impacts how a company's financial performance is perceived by stakeholders. 

 Expense recognition practices have a significant impact on the performance of quoted companies in Nigeria.How companies account for expenses not only affects their reported profitability but also reflects their operational efficiency, management effectiveness, and adherence to accounting standards.

Inventory accounting methods significantly affect the performance of quoted companies in Nigeria. Given the diverse nature of industries and supply chain dynamics within Nigeria, the selection of inventory accounting methods can significantly impact a company's financial position and operational efficiency.

 Asset valuation methods have a significant influence on the performance of quoted companies in Nigeria.Assets constitute a substantial portion of a company's balance sheet and their valuation directly impacts financial metrics like total assets, net worth, and return on assets.

Tax accounting strategies significantly influence the performance of quoted companies in Nigeria. Taxation is a crucial aspect of business operations, and the strategies employed by quoted companies in Nigeria to manage their tax liabilities can have profound implications for their financial performance and competitiveness.
