THE EFFECT AND USE OF INTERNET FACILITIES ON ACQUISITION OF INFORMATION RESOURCES IN JOHN HARRIS LIBRARY ,UNIVERSITY OF BENIN

ABSTRACT

This research work reports the findings of a study that investigates the effect of internet facilities in John Harris Library,University of Benin. The study adopts a descriptive survey design. The population consists ofall the Librarian in John HarrisLibrarywhich consist of 9 Librarian and 170 non academic LibrarianUniversity of Benin, Benin City and out of which a sample size of 180 respondents was selected through proportionate sampling technique. Questionnaire method was used for data collection from the respondents and frequency count, percentages, mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis. While the hypothesis was tested using average mean score. The findings from this research showed that Librarian has a positive perspective towards the use of internet Facilities.The study made some recommendations which includes that  there should be constant use of internet facilities for efficient acquisition of library information resources.
