ABSTRACT
This research work had examined the economic impact of MTN in Nigeria: the study focus on the impact on Edo State,2010-2020. The study examined the emergence of telecommunication in Edo State, activities, services and operations of MTN in Edo State, economic impacts of MTN in Edo State and the challenges facing MTN in Edo State.
MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa‘s leading Telecommunication Company and was one of the first Global System of Mobile Communications (GSM) to make a call following the deregulation of the industry and has grown to be operation in over 23 cities and 1000 villages in Nigeria. MTN Nigeria commenced operations in Nigeria in 2001 after the deregulation of the telecommunications industry by the then civilian government of President Olusegun Obasanjo. This deregulation was partly due to the ineffectiveness of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).
