The study had examined the economic benefits of Calabar festival in economic development of Cross River State from 2015 to 2023. The study covers the geography and people of Cross River State, the concept of festival and historical origin of Calabar festival, the activities involved in celebration of Calabar festival, the economic importance of Calabar festival to Cross River state. Festival of many types serves to meet specific needs as well as to provide entertainment. These types of celebration offer a belonging social or geographical group. The study revealed the role of traditional festivals in promoting inter-group relations, while the objectives includes, the origin and the concept of festival, the historical origin and the socio-cultural importance of traditional festivals in any community, the role of traditional festivals in promoting inter-groups relations and factors responsible for the decline of traditional festivals, in Nigeria. The study revealed festivals served as a memory aid and preservation of culture as it reminds the people of their traditions and in recent times also helps in fostering unity among diverse origin and interest. The study also revealed that festival cut across social and economic life and it has the potential of bringing of people from diverse background to together, thus promoting intergroup relations
