ABSTRACT
This research examines the dynamics of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Nigeria, particularly mediation. It utilizes the doctrinal method of research and makes reference to Journal, Articles, Textbooks and Statutes amongst other relevant internet sources. The research finds that ADR has a win win ratio in the resolution of disputes unlike the adversarial system of litigation. The study further finds that the effectiveness of mediation in Nigeria is influence by factors such as the public’s perception and acceptance of ADR Mechanisms by Nigerians as well as inadequate training of mediators. The research thus recommends amongst others the need for greater awareness and introduction of ADR into faculties of law academic curriculum. The research concludes that ADR mechanism complement the adversarial system in the resolution of dispute thus contributing to the holistic advancement of our legal system
