ABSTRACT
Culture plays an important role in architecture as it shapes the environment and is in turn shaped by it. This study focuses on fully analysing the topic and assessing the challenges faced as well as the level of public awareness. The research was based on cultural presence in various Local Government Areas in Benin (Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Egor). The findings indicate a rather low level of public awareness and focus on the topic as well as the colonial era and globalisation as major factors leading to the dissonance. This research adds to the literature on cultural and architectural relationship data in Benin.
