ABSTRACT

The subject of this project is the observation, analysis, and control of a deep cycle battery using a data logger and an Arduino. It is known that working environments take into account the ambient parameters that influence the working conditions of the deep cycle battery so that efficiency is at the highest level. For this reason, the primary goal is to create an inexpensive system for storing data obtained by measuring different ambient parameters and controlling them without any human involvement.

The data logger system for analyzing a deep cycle battery is based on the following steps: directly monitoring the battery, measuring and storing data, and then allowing the user to adjust the parameters and provide a more comfortable working condition for the battery. The system is based on: a group of built-in sensors, an Arduino, a wireless Internet using the Global System of Mobile Telecommunications (GSM) module as a communication protocol, and an SD card module. There is also a liquid crystal display(LCD) and a keypad that allows the user to view, monitor, and control the ambient parameters like the voltage, discharge current, instantaneous voltage, current, and energy consumption of the deep cycle battery.

The sensors sense the voltages and currents at different instances, then the signals are sent to the Arduino which then processes it and sends the data to the data logger which then stores the data using the SD card and GSM module.

At the end of this project, In order to provide timely maintenance and replacement of battery systems, it is necessary to develop a reliable and accurate battery health diagnostic that takes a prognostic approach.
