ABSTRACT

This project was motivated by the decline in students’ academic performance in Nigeria. Issues such as late graduation timing, transferring to another department, and low-grade point average was taken into consideration and a solution of course advising was birthed. The goal was to assess these factors affecting students’ academic performance and the impact of course advising on students’ academic performance. The study adopted a survey approach where about 382 questionnaires were distributed online via Google forms to source data. The data collected were analyzed by Statistical package for social Scientists (SPSS) and Amos. The model was employed to test the entity of study habit and course advising on student academic performance and a positive correlation coefficient were obtained for both entities. This result fully shows an increase in study habits and course advising stating if course advising is increased, there would be a significant increase in student academic performance.
