SUMMARY
This research work was meant to examine the role of NAFDAC in curbing drug trafficking in Nigeria. In this regard, chapter one provided a background to the study. While chapter two took a cursory look at the history, functions, and mission and vision statements of the agency. The research aim and objectives and scope of the study gave proper focus to the study. Some related literatures reviewed in chapter two shows that a lot of Nigerians commended NAFDAC’s effective performance. The performance was made possible by public enlightenment carried out by the public relations unit of the agency. In chapter three, the researcher used the survey method to administer the research instrument on the oral interview of some personnel in the Pharmaceutical industry. In chapter four, the challenges and failures was identify and analyzed.1 The findings reveal that the public relations unit has provided adequate publicity to the agency’s operations. Also, that NAFDAC has lived up to the expected roles and that the management supports the public relations unit to execute her publicity functions. The review of fight against fake drug proliferation in Nigeria by NAFDAC has not been very successful because of the above-discussed problems, even with the good efforts made by the present management. Without a full and continuous support of a National government, it will be a very difficult situation for any DRA to be successful in fully implementing its stipulated guidelines and laws.2 The government should have a 62 clear, firm and equitable legislation that addresses all important issues with appropriate sanctions for drug violators, provide financial support to the DRA especially in areas of staffing, GMP inspection, quality control laboratories and enforcement, should stand its ground in defense of situation concerning public health. In addition, give full support when legislated sanctions are given to drug offenders.
