THE CHALLENGES OF SOCIAL WORK PROFESSIONALS IN PARTICIPATING IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESSES IN UBTH

ABSTRACT

Despite the various efforts put in by social workers, there are still challenges posed as challenges in social work professionals in participating in the decision making in UBTH Benin City. Some of those challenges are that social workers are not given their rightful place in UBTH and the country at large, there are no policies governing the social work profession, due to the hardship of the country currently, some social workers are stressed emotionally hence they are not able to perform their duties effectively. Another challenge include that UBTH management and the government do not support the social workers as much as they should therefore leading to discouragement among social workers. In view of all of these, there is need to resolve these challenges. This research work provided some recommendations that will help resolve these challenges which will then lead to a more conducive environment for practice, proper policies to govern the body and awareness of the social work profession as it ought to be.
