Abstract

This study examines the challenges of covid19 on learning facilities in Faculty of Social Sciences, University Benin, Benin City. This study was design to investigate a sample 397 students in Faculty of Social Sciences, the data collected was analysed using percentage and chi-square statistical technique. The result revealed that the existing learning facilities have significant effect on students learning amidst Covid-19 pandemic in Faculty of Social Sciences; the existing classroom building has support required for Covid-19 compliance of distancing among students in Faculty of Social Sciences; there is significant relationship between learning facilities and academic performance of students amidst Covid-19 pandemic. The study recommends that the government should make an effort to provide necessary installed facilities to Faculties, but a lot more needs to be done amidst covid19 pandemic. Bearing in mind the importance of school plan and facilities to teaching and learning, government should as a matter of urgency make available adequate and effective school plan and facilities by increasing the allocation of facilities to schools; especially in areas where they are not adequate, so that teaching and learning could be made easier and the school management also needs to utilize these facilities provided to their benefit.
