ABSTRACT
This study assesses the “beef” phenomenon and pattern in Nigeria rap music. The actual goal of this study was to undergo a critical review of “Beef” and pattern among Rap Musicians in Nigeria, to identify the causes of “beef” among Rap musicians in Nigeria, to consider if there are advantages or disadvantages of “beef” among the musicians, as well as highlight the possible ways to preclude “beef” among Rap musicians. This study adopted the content analysis as the primary method of enquiry for the research work, with a sample size which involved artists directly involved in beef related issues. The data were subsequently analyzed. It was discovered that rap music in Nigeria could sometimes be all about the tussle for supremacy; it could also just be solely for the purpose of generating funds and gaining relevance in the music industry. Hence this study recommends that Rap musical artistes learn to do their work in secret in terms of their compositions, instrumentations and better output of their albums instead of vain competition. This will be more rewarding than struggling for superiority without professionalism in their musical tracks, there is need for a change of orientation mindset towards the rap industry in terms of getting the recognition that it deserves, Fans negative energy, comments and influences should be avoided by the musicians so has to enjoy sane and atmosphere of peace. The research work in conclusion posited that total atmosphere of peace is necessary for better productions and performances. Therefore, it is expected that rap musical artistes and other musicians should learn to maintain peace.
