ABSTRACT
This study outlines a comprehensive study that assesses the level of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) maturity at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in Nigeria. It delves into various critical aspects of ICT, including the evaluation of hardware and software resources, data management practices, cybersecurity measures, the proficiency of staff in ICT, and the extent to which ICT is integrated into clinical and administrative processes. Employing a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods such as surveys and interviews, this study aims to provide a holistic understanding of UBTH's current state of ICT implementation. By gathering objective data and capturing the subjective experiences and perspectives of UBTH staff and stakeholders, this research intends to present a comprehensive and balanced overview of the hospital's ICT readiness. The outcomes of this assessment will not only establish a baseline for UBTH's current ICT maturity but will also offer actionable recommendations customized to address specific weaknesses and leverage existing strengths. These recommendations will align with global best practices in healthcare ICT, guiding UBTH toward improved patient care, enhanced administrative efficiency, and academic excellence. Ultimately, this research contributes to the broader discourse surrounding the role of ICT in healthcare delivery, using UBTH as a case study, and aims to assist the hospital in harnessing technology for the benefit of its patients, staff, and academic endeavors.
