THE APPLICATION OF PRODUCTION SKILLS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF BUSINESS ORGANIZATION TO GAIN COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

ABSTRACT

The study examined the Application of Production Skills in the Management of Business Organization to Gain Competitive Advantage in Ovia North East Local Government, Edo State. In conducting the study, four research questions were raised and tested. The instrument adopted was a structured questionnaire on “The Application of Production Skills in the Management of Business Organization to Gain Competitive Advantage in Ovia North East Local Government, Edo State”.The instrument was subjected to face validity by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education whose suggestions and corrections were incorporated to produce the final copy of the instrument. The reliability of the instrument was ensured by using Cronbach Alpha reliability computation which yielded a co-efficient index of 0.79.The population of the study comprised of eighty eighty (80) registered businesses organization under Small Medium Entrepreneur Department Association of Nigeria (SMEDAN) for the year 2023 in Ovia North East local government, Benin City, out of which forty (40) registered business organizations were used as sample. Data obtained was analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The result of the findings revealed that production skills play an important role in the growth and development of an organization especially against the competitors to gain competitive advantages. It was therefore recommended that Business organizations should acquire relative skills that will enable them to create inimitable, valuable, rare, and irreplaceable sources and develop competitive advantage and make competitive advantage and its benefits permanent in the business.
