CONCLUSION
The study has evaluated the applicability of the complementarity principle by the ICC. It is shown that the complementarity principle is one of the most important concepts of the court and if well applied, will bring about the achievement of the aim of the court i.e. successful prosecution and conviction of war criminals and quelling of war crimes. The role of signatories in achieving this cannot be undermined, especially the African signatories to the ICC who seem to be the bedrock of the institution. It is opined that if member states take advantage of the respect of their sovereignty to convict more war criminals then the ICC would have succeeded in her mandate to quash war crimes through the complementarity principle.
