ABSTRACT
Sedimentological characteristics of sand facies within Imo formation through sieve analysis test. Sieve analysis helps to determine the particle size distribution of the coarse and fine aggregates . This is done by sieving the aggregates. In this experiment we use equipment like scale balance and sieve and the sieve passages through them followed by the collection of different sized particles left over on various sieves.
The coarse grained sediments are shale silt and gravel. In these study sand samples were analysed, Microscopic analysis was also employed. The samples analysed were taken at 10 ft intervals and a total of 34 samples were obtained, three samples were worked on through sieve analysis from a well and Microscopic analysis, Quartz was the dominant mineral when observed through the microscope and the samples were sub-mature, the depositional environment was beach sand.
